Well, of course, the most obvious is the whole premise - humans are trapped in an illusionary world created by a false god/robots. This differs from the Buddhist illusionary world which is a creation of our own attachments and expectations. In gnosticism, there's a clear bad guy, and the bad guy is "God", the demiurge who trapped humanity in the false reality and demands our worship for a pittance of favors.
There's Neo the Savior - gnosticism is heavily into Saviors, particularly Jesus, of course, as it's a primarily Christian development.
The Oracle is Sophia, Wisdom, a concept heavily featured in gnosticism as well. Obtaining wisdom is the key to freeing oneself of the chains of the demiurge and attaining the "keys to the kingdom" aka enlightenment.
And the whole Neo+Trinity thing is a reference to various nostic beliefs in syzygy, a perfect union, usually between man and woman, that can facilitate that enlightenment. 1 reply
