I just watched it today. When you were discussing people wanting to be led, I think what happens is a biological shortcut to avoid spending energy thinking. It is way easier to delegate that to others, so you don't have to think, and more importantly, if something doesn't go as expected, you have someone to blame that's not you. The other day, I posted a link to a paper showing how using AI reduces our critical thinking. Why are we using primarily AI? Because we are lazy. It is a shortcut, and in the long term, it hurts us badly.

I want to add another note. I disagree with @cameron regarding the people who don't want to be led, as he said that, in the end, they want to. I think most people in that group are not looking for leaders but for peers to get validation of their points of view. It is similar but different 😃

The disagreement can maybe partially be traced to a definitional issue (most people think of “leadership” as an authority figure making decisions) where i think of good leadership as more persuasive than imperative— but overall i still think people by default want to offload the responsibility of most things to somebody else (or as I would say “be led”)

Totally agree. It actually improves my point of not feeling guilty if something goes wrong.
