I haven’t worked in big tech, but in the Army you can’t fire anyone (mostly) so you got who you got. Some of the best soldiers I led didn’t shine until they royally fucked up and we’re Army PIPed Perfunctory box checking is a waste of time, but people are dynamic and often rise to the expectations you set fo
