Thank you for your thoughts. I validate your experience. However, I might suggest that it’s important to understand prose more broadly.

To the Wall Street Journal, the DNC and Kamala voters are “the left.” To CNBC, they are “the left.” Their framing has power, and is the starting place for most discursive eyeballs who would join any movement. 

The contextual read of my words is that “Tay is using the master’s framing for an audience that primarily understands the master’s tools”— aka I’m not talking to you. I am not, to paraphrase Audre Lorde, using the master’s tools to dismantle the master’s house in this specific instance. I’m talking to it.

Code switching is real. Meaning is not absolute. If I carry the logic of your aghast consternation to its logical conclusion, “colored people” would mean “people of color.” You and I both know that’s not true.

Likewise “the left” isn’t some absolute and dogmatic literalism for “gotcha” dunks divorced from context.
