Welcome to the final day of a pretty incredible /lounge Season 1! After 2 weeks of questions, scenarios, and pretty dang interesting answers from our Season 1 Loungers, the last prompt is… What do you wish somebody told you ahead of time when you founded your first startup?

I wish somebody said startups never get easier - they just get different hard. I assumed I’d improve at startup skills linearly. The reality imo is once you get good enough at one thing (like getting signups) you unlock a new problem you suck at (like retaining users). It’s more a battle of grit than anything.

1. Most of the time, you just need to keep going and not give up. 2. Talk to users at least every week. 3. In most cases, the founder's journey is lonely. 4. Networking is everything. Thank you for doing this @cameron 🙏 really enjoyed the season.

Let's go! I didn't realize how much patience and persistence are required. The old almost annoying analogy of a marathon rather than a sprint. Another one would be to lean more into your interests.

That going down the path, the journey, of founding is more profound than the funding it could lead you to. Only focus on the journey of founding, not the potential outcome. But I still wouldn’t have listened to the advice.

You're building a muscle that you've never used in this capacity before. It's going to hurt, you'll probably get a little injured, but you might learn to kinda like the pain.

If I could give myself one piece of advice before launching my first startup, it would be this: 'Welcome failure, as it's part of the path to success.' Looking forward to Season 2 and more discussions!

I think in the end we have to start and finish the work ourselves! I would like it to happen but it is very unlikely

* Start smaller - you NEED customer feedback or you're just building for an audience of 1 * Don't wait until you get funding to get started - you may NEVER get funding * If you aren't hearing 'no' or 'that sucks', you're talking to the wrong people * Your project may not be your wife, but it's definitely your mistress

@cameron I wish I knew how vital cash flow management is. Running out of money can end even the best ideas.

@cameron Someone should have told me about the mental and emotional toll. Balancing stress and self-care is key. 🧠
