With the progress of AI, is it silly to send humans to Mars in the near future? What if we sent ai driven bots to begin setting up mars for humans so that when humans arrived it was much more hospitable? Certainly overlooking something here… but what’s the need for humans in the immediate future?

Radiation. Mars' magnetosphere and atmosphere are not as robust as Earth's.
