I wanted to make this a long time ago but never was able to due to inability to upload videos.

This is a full video showing the evolution of sunspot region 3664, the one responsible for the May geomagnetic storm, the strongest in 20 years. While not very impressive at first, it rapidly gained size and complexity, firing an absurd number of 112 solar flares (39 C-class, 61 M-class and 12 X-class)*.

* Flares are classified in several classes according to the increase in the X-ray flux measured by the GOES satellite. Type C flares are relatively minor, M-class are considered as moderate, and X-class are the strongest ones that tend to cause more trouble.
