I think uniswap enabling multichain selection was a choice made too early it's slower and a lot harder to select the asset you want to trade now and now you see all the fake ones from all of the chains if you search, not only yours, on the dropdown also the best UX would be with session keys - I trust uniswap but have to still review and approve and confirm multiple txs for every new token I'm swapping

max - would love to hear more about what tripped you up with the new flow. Do you think you'd like to have network filters more prominently exposed? Also, try searching again, we had a bug where "bad" search results were showing up at the top of search results. I'm curious if our fix has improved thins at all for you.

I think it got better recently yeah, I’ve been mostly giving CA address anyway and after that update getting a bit scared since same contract address can be deployed on another l2 for example? or is that unlikely so in the end I don’t like the experience where I don’t see the chain I’m transacting on upfront I’m mostly transacting on base and if not I always want to specify the chain, I think we’re not yet at the place where we can select tokens to swap regardless of the chain and with uniswap here, you can only swap a token for another on one chain, not across ones right so that single select for every asset on every chain seems like extra calculations and more room to make a mistake or confuse things

like also take a look at this, it’s a mess, I don’t want to select a token and then a chain every time, I can just select the chain like before, and then see only one official usdc on it

it may also be a matter of using default chain, I'd set it to base and in case I need to switch, which is quite rare, I want to be specific

Got it. The small dropdown next to your input is the new network filter. We explored exposing the network filter via chips by default, but decided to put it under this network filter icon in an attempt to simplify things. We have always struggled with the tension of users like yourself with a network centric mental model, vs users with an asset centric mental model. We are trying to set up the UI for a true cross chain/network abstracted future. But I totally understand your use case maybe we made a jump that’s a litttle too far to start.

yeah makes sense, if that future is coming close or this change brings it closer - I’m all for it just heard a talk by polygon founder and their vision is to have assets interoperable on every chain like you have usdc and you can swap it into any token on any chain or mint anything with it on any of the chains too
