Unpopular opinion: Despite the buzz, I can't help but feel Bitcoin "Rollup" is just a narrative, *conveniently sidestepping* the fact that a hard fork (to meaningfully scale) would ultimately be necessary...

BitVM allows ZK rollups to work on Bitcoin today with no hard or soft forks. A ”fully trustless rollup” on Bitcoin would be possible with just a softfork (op_strk_verify or some other zkp verifier). I recommend this explainer: https://x.com/david_seroy/status/1756719864046317792?s=46

You have to publish proofs on L1. Single proof can include many transactions but they are quite big and I would like to understand how they would fit into current limitations. I assume they won’t - so I am saying hard fork is inevitable..
