I thought it was an open secret that the NYT best seller lists were all gamed - if not by outright bulk buying then by similar approaches like promising something in exchange for pre-orders. I suppose that straight up bulk buying your way to the top should be banned, but the whole list is gamed so... 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yeah exactly. I’ve always known publishers to do this and it doesn’t get a big write up like Chris Dixon’s book did.
