Just getting through @dwr.eth throwing shade at the Southcoast… New Bedford is a bit more than welfare & fentanyl. Though the city definitely has an uphill climb… I would add that the Portuguese community is a defining element in addition to the working waterfront. And the artist community continues to revive…

I mean I’m from the region and my family still lives there. No meaningful industry ever backfilled in Fall River and New Bedford which is a shame. Glad to hear you’re more optimistic.

Well we are just going to get the long proposed train service, next year. Only a 30 year project, yikes. Definitely have been left out from the major investments and overhaul of development around greater Boston. Fall River has struggled with leadership. NB fared a bit better. Surrounding towns in better shape.

The whole region suffered from the shift of industry and factory labor to the south and oversees to be honest. Titleist is still the biggest private company beyond government, health care, and Dunkin of course. I wouldn’t say I’m too optimistic on the ‘Gateway’ cities. Yet a rising tide… hopefully.
