More re: precursors to early programming but currently reading The Idea Factory (Gertner) about history of Bell Labs. Incredible perspective on how important the *colliding* of right person/insight/timing/dependencies/etc…all are in new innovations actually 🌱 Rather than any one of those. Crazy cast of characters

Tangentially related… Shortcut by John Pollack has a super interesting section on Bill Klann: he recognized how slaughterhouse lines could be applied to automobiles (his bosses at Ford weren’t so keen on the idea). Not a full biography, but a really interesting section of a non-fiction book.
