1) If you live indefinitely, you’ll eventually reach the heat death of the universe. In order to live beyond that, we will have to transgress the known existing universe. Perhaps that will happen between now and the end of this all

This makes me think of The Last Question by Asimov. You may have already read it, but it had an intriguing take on this topic. A person asks a super computer:

"How can the net amount of entropy of the universe be massively decreased?

And it takes billions of years for the future computer to come up with an answer.

I forgot about this. Great point, a great parallel. Equally also reminds me of this Jorge Luis Borges short story:
