Just like those guys who'd corner you at parties with their guitar to play their latest Ableton loop -,The social contract demanded you feign interest while mentally calculating a way out. Fast forward to 2025, and that same trapped feeling has just migrated to our acquaintances cornering you with their Substack newsletters. "Hey, I started writing about [tech/politics/productivity/wellness]! You should really subscribe!" The same social pressure. The result? We're all trapped in an endless loop of polite deflection, trying to navigate the social obligations. By now it’s obvious that the democratization doesn’t lead to more diversity of thought - It's the same energy: the captive audience, the unearned confidence, the recycled stuff stripped of whatever meaning it might have had through sheer repetitive overexposure. Like a meme that goes from clever to cringe in hours instead of weeks.
