The deeper truth of Stargate the mediocre movie is that the “new world” we are promised is nothing more than a rehashing of old tropes and clichés, where ancient alien gods become stand-ins for our modern fantasies of domination and transcendence. In this sense, the film is not a journey to the stars, but a return to the same stale, ideological territory we’ve been fed for decades. It’s not about discovery—it’s about same old same old in a slightly different package.
