requiring a power badge (issued in an opaque manner by a centralized authority) to access a "decentralized" service is the antithesis of what i thought farcaster was supposed to stand for.

warpcast can use the badge all they want! (and, they do; my engagement is down ~40% since i lost mine)

other clients should not.

A few things worth corecting.

1. Power badge is not required at the protocol; it's a Warpcast feature that we offer as an API for other apps. They have freedom to use or not use.

2. People don't want to see uninteresting accounts. So we offer a) who you follow and who follows you b) power badge. Again, on Warpcast.

“People” and “uninteresting” is stupid subjective. 

“People” can choose who to interact with and who to mute. You’ve created a caste system that maintains a status quo that doesn’t need to exist.
