** The Farcaster Settlement ** (my /firstdraft ) I was talking to someone struggling to find their way on FC & wanted to give them an illustration of life here. And I wanted it to not only explain it but give them something to feel. I like the Singapore illustration--low population, high GDP--but it's hard to feel. So, I said FC is like a group settling a new frontier. To me, this captures the positive-sum nature of FC. How does a group of people settle a new world? People find their roles in serving the greater good, serving the existence of the village. It seems the people who have best found their way on FC, have found their role in supporting the village. A new settlement needs governing. Here, that's the FC team especially @dwr.eth & @v . It needs economic support & development. That's the biggest list here, but especially @jacek @betashop.eth @deployer . The village needs 'spiritual' or moral help like @july . But it needs all kinds of people... 1/2 cont'd ⬇️

cont'd from above: 'The Farcaster Settlement' The village needs all kinds of people. It needs poets & writers like @arjantupan @danicaswanson & @pichi . It needs peacekeepers & social facilitators like @ted . It needs town criers like @nounishprof & @adrienne . And it needs lots of support from 'regular people.' The point of my illustration to this person was to help them feel that the way to find your place on FC is to serve the village--to do something that helps the good of what's happening here. That's how I found my place & call this settlement home. I dabbled, but eventually took something I like & am good at & filled a need (in a small way) to serve the village. I don't know if the illustration helped the person who was struggling & wanting to give up on FC. I don't know if it's even the right illustration for FC, but it made me 'feel' what it looks like to find your place on FC. And working out ideas is what /firstdraft is for. If you got this far, I'd welcome other illustrations or ideas.

I love this analogy so much. This place does very much feel like that. A new frontier. A civilized place of the internet that functions as a village with the cooperation of all the villagers.
