Red is one of the most vivid and captivating colors in the visible spectrum, often associated with energy, passion, love, and danger. As one of the primary colors in the additive color system (RGB), red cannot be created by mixing other colors. However, in subtractive color systems like painting, shades of red can sometimes be deepened or adjusted by blending with other colors.

History and Origin

The name "red" comes from the Old English word rēad, derived from the Proto-Germanic rauthaz and the Proto-Indo-European root reudh- meaning "red" or "ruddy".
