This is alarming! In less than a decade, Google went from: "Don't be evil" to: "You are a stain on the universe. Please die." 😳 https://x.com/zooko/status/1859992168565539086

doubt it. At $69 / month, it's most likely just a bunch of telco deals

whoa! Labelers on BSky are an interesting part of of the protocol, but never dreamed they'd be used like this! Crazy times!

I'm envisioning something bigger and bolder. Currently, the identity layer for Bluesky relies on W3C-based DIDs, specifically did:plc or did:web. What I’m proposing is the creation of a third option: did:fid. This approach would allow every Faraaster ID to double as a Bluesky ID. Why pursue this? For one, it would simplify cross-posting and ensure seamless authenticity of posts across both platforms. Additionally, it addresses a key criticism of Bluesky: the lack of censorship resistance in controlling identity keys. Success would be achieved when the Bluesky team adopts this third DID type as part of their identity layer.

This seems like an obvious case where AI generated voice with plenty of training data could be used to carry milhouse on forever.

One interesting similarity with Farcaster and Bluesky is how they leverage a unique ID for accounts and human readable labels for the display. For the globally unique human readable label, Farcaster uses ENS while BSky uses DNS. By leveraging the DNS-to-ENS integration, in theory Farcaster names could be set to DNS names. (Would be a huge win for brands.) https://bsky.app/profile/pfrazee.com/post/3lbczzm7ghc2y

My first thought was, wtf? But, I wonder if he's advocating leveling the playing field for the open atproto? By analogy, if Farcaster took off, buying and shuttering MM

The motivation to make easy money will entice a majority of the public to eat glass. Like it or not, right now there is a perception that you can win the meme coin lottery on Solana using Phantom.

I've been contemplating how to make your Farcaster ID a native Bluesky ID. Perhaps this channel could be ground zero for people interested in exploring these types of integrations?

I've been playing with Bluesky since the early days mostly to evaluate the tech. https://bsky.app/profile/boscolo.co

Not trolling. I'm curious what are the founding ideals that would succinctly capture the "greatness" of Europe?

martyrdom by people who were merely passed down a story doesn’t convince me of anything —just look at 9/11. But martyrdom by the disciples who actually knew firsthand whether it was a lie or not is one of the most compelling historical events, sowing doubt even in the staunchest atheists.

I sincerely don't mean this as a dunk but this is the onboarding data for the last three months, maybe worth reevaluating the data through a different lens?

💯 Haha. I had added “do you have data to support your opinion”, but cut that sentence when I realized I didn’t either. 😂

I think @dwr.eth is right about why people are exiting 𝕏, but wrong about why they are choosing BSky over Mastodon, Nostr or Farcaster. The public is starting to see BSky as the "free speech" version of 𝕏 where: "any site can remove content but nobody can truly censor any voice who wants to be heard as they can easily move among servers at ease and retain their followers." * * this quoted text is from a tweet i'll drop in the comments and what normies refer to as "decentralized" It's not about the technical reality that DNS or did:PLC is not as censorship resistant as ENS or Farcaster FIDs. It's about the perception that it is "sufficiently decentralized". And just as important, it is viewed as an open platform because everything is open source.
