What do you do when you're called sir? I've just turned that into a non-gender way of trying to address someone respectfully, so don't correct them. My discernment measurement is whether I think something is good for my nieces, but I'm not actually sure if it is or not.

cont... Would be nice if all genders were automatically included together for "sir", but assuming that that's true might be missing an opportunity to say, btw people who aren't men come here too. whaddaya think?

I tend to laugh and shake my head. The only people I tease about it are those I am close to and should know better It just happened yesterday when I was answering support tickets on discord.

I’m nonbinairy so it’s honestly a mix of sir vs maam, most of the time people are just trying to be polite imo I don’t think strangers care about me enough to intentionally disrespect me, and if they are trying to be disrespectful they’d call me something a lot worse than “sir” 😭
