I think clients will manage to compete, but it's going to take a strong team with funding + patience, a differentiated beachhead, and possibly an existing user base (ex: zora/metamask/... add a farcaster client interface). 

Unfortunately builders underestimate the difficulty of getting DAUs (myself included)

The word client is also a red herring. 

What app are you building that sits on top of the account system and social graph of Farcaster?

Ok let me make it more simple. Picking protocols can be part of your “app stack”. 

Rather than only picking Supabase or Svelte, your full stack (full protocol?) app should pick a protocol. 

For simpler, smaller things, you’ve got Frames and other API backed systems.
