I need to get this off my chest bc our FC community is going through the same cycle again, and I don’t think it’s good for us in the long term:

“Social tokens” are money-grab distractions that make the community worse off by incentivizing value extraction, followed commoditization, and price pumping over quality contribution, genuine engagement, and sustainable growth.

• friend(dot)tech rugged
• BitClout was a scam
• now social tokens are all over FC

When will we learn?
followers ≠ investors

There’s a reason DWR and V never baked social tokens into the platform. They would have if they thought it was a good idea.

Any amount of value you think is coming from social tokens can be easily (and often with lower overhead) achieved through other means.

I understand the allure of having a token and building services and utility on it. But let’s be honest, no one has done that successfully at scale.

There are better ways to monetize without making your followers the liquidity pool.
