DAOs are just DOs. 
They’re not autonomous, yet. 

Recent developments in agents + sentient memes will change that and realise the original vision of the DAO.

Depends on what you mean by autonomous. 
Have DAOs been made fully automatic? No. 
Have DAOs provided the autonomy for the members to participate without outside control? Yes.

I don’t think DAOs were ever meant to be “automatic” nor do I believe they should be.

I'm guessing the original meaning was automatic. Only now with LLMs we are close to that.
