The catch is that it needs to be parametric in a way, so it can be mutated according to measurements. One wild idea would be to give it a full body xray/mri/dexa and have it generate an accurate 3d model that can be automatically or manually annotated.

Did anyone use/work on free/oss/proprietary 3D body visualization? Pondering what it would take to try and make an anatomically correct visualization of a person (within the scope of *visualization*), specific to an individual. I.e. You own health hub, tracking your bodies current status. More data == more correct.

This first post is a mouthful, as every aspect of this amazing topic can be expanded almost indefinitely, but we wanted to keep it short and sweet. We're currently working on a genome sequencing run to write the next blog entry, a more hands on post on what *you* could do with *your* data. See you around :)

We've started on a blog series looking at the more nerdy - and hands on - aspects of health: genetics, biomarkers and whatnots. Unsure where the path will lead us, but please welcome our first post, a birds eye view of whole genome sequencing. https://bobrlabs.eth.link/2024/04/18/whole-genome-sequencing-part-1/

Was thinking about shorter term bounties for now, more in line of tips.

For some reason, our posts do not even appear in channels. Most seem to not even receive responses. Any idea what might be wrong? Can't really build up a follower base with the posts getting filtered out automatically.

Is there anyone here who has hands on experience with whole genome sequencing? Perhaps specifically experience with Oxford Nanopore and MinION? Wondering how hard and costly it would be to run a DIY sequencing to replace (or augment) a consumer WGS run done by a less reputable company?

Annoyingly, hospitals providing genetic services will play into this (my guess through service agreements with the labs actually doing the seqeuncing). Even if they charge you say 4000 EUR to do a sequencing, the hospital will refuse to give you the data; rather you can then book 100 EUR session to "talk" about it.

What they can charge for is interpretation. By having doctors as clients' they have a perpetual back and forth about one or more patients. Or they value research and publications, but need data ownership for that. Usually the terms going through doctors will ensure they retain the data forever.

Why wont labs talk to non medical clients? Good question! My guess is that it's not worth it. The seqeuncing is not a good business model. Finding leads only for one-shot interaction is low profit. Charging more to cover clinical gradeness would just lose even thise few leads to others who yolo.

None of the consumer services are clinical grade. Even specialized labs only working with hospitals have special plans for doing full CLIA validated sequencing. E.g. https://www.genewiz.com/en-GB/Public/Services/Clinical-Services/CLIA-Whole-Genome-Sequencing But they won't ever talk to a non medical client.

Any particular reason you chose Nebula vs say Sequencing .com? Dante seems to have horrible reviews, so I'd stay away. Also the blood sample is a marketing trick, they have a disclaimer that you might not get that kit and most people indeed do not.

But then are you yourselves not doing any analysis at all, rather just providing the data+compute to 3rd parties to run their stuff?

My thinking is that at some point you need to interface with medical professionals to go beyond what's available off the shelf. Curious where the scope of genomes .io ends. Am trying to do something small scale myself, data processing, but currently in learning mode.

I'm curious if you also approached the DNA analysis within the project or if you use some OSS stuff for that? I am aware you are outoisring the sequencing to Nebula, and my understanding is that your focus is more on the privacy / vault / chain aspects. Wondering where that leaves the data processing pipeline itself.

Still on the platform? Can I pick your brain about genomes io? 😅

Any chance of making it a bit more chain agnostic? Bridging from Ethereum to Optimism to Base is kind of expensive currently. If it ran on Optimism it would be much more accessible already.

Are there any more recent studies on that? 2018 was a long time ago.
