In this trial, women whose male partners also took a 1-week antibiotic course had far fewer recurrences: Only 35% had BV again within 3 months , compared to 63% when only the woman was treated.

The study suggests that reinfection from untreated partners may be a key reason BV keeps returning. Treating both may finally offer a way to stop the cycle
