This has been a rough month. I found out I have diabetes today. And now so much of my lifestyle has to change on a dime. I am going to miss good food. For the rest of my life. Sigh.

I know what I have to do because I have done it before: get back on keto and drop 100 lbs. It is just so hard to never eat carbs or drink anything ever again, never get to go to my favorite restaurants again or have a night out with my friends. Which is why I gained things back from last time. My body just can’t deal with carbs, though. Super high insulin resistance. So it’s have some social joy or get really sick. I choose health but it still isn’t easy.

It’s not easy finding and maintaining balance. But there are ways to fund joy and pleasure in life, and it doesn’t have to include drinking or dining out. It can be as simple as having a walk, conversation, cup of coffee with people, or alone. And I think drastic measures and sudden changes in body weight are creating more stress in us long term, as body gets confused about what’s going on, so it prepares itself for the worst.
