This makes me very sad if the only way to mint is depositing ETH on Rodeo. I have been using @payflow to be able to purchase a lot of my Rodeo pieces because I didn't want to use my ETH. It lets me buy with cross-chain funding using my wrapped Degen while still on the Degen chain without bridging or extra fees. And now if I have to deposit ETH to mint I won't be able to do that. @sinaver.eth this is really disappointing. 🫠 Is there a way to use Payflow to do the deposit?

Are they changing collectibles protocol or only front-end? If second, you should still be able to continue minting with @payflow using degen and other tokens :) Otherwise, they loose secondary market created by other apps aggregating minting, hence I don't believe they would change the protocol - just the face.

I will check it out soon with one of my posts shared here. I know you can't buy via the website without depositing first.

Wow. If you can’t buy without depositing, I think Rodeo (and Foundation in general) just committed suicide. It sounds like a scam. They’re going to stake your ETH and earn on it. Would you deposit money with the grocery store so you can checkout without paying? Or would you find that exploitative? I mean it’s what banks do. Don’t crypto people hate the banking system? SMH.

That it would be a way to make money off of people's "banked" ETH was my second thought about this, too. It's not really fair to your customers to make them put their ETH in when they could be staking it themselves. Nifty Gateway also wanted people to "deposit" their ETH and I also didn't like that model, but since it was on L1 and gas was so high, it made a lot more sense because then people could easily buy without having to worry about gwei spikes. On Base, it's different. It's a tiny fraction of a cent for a transaction and even with rare spikes it might be a few cents, so I would much prefer being able to just do each mint from my wallet instead of having to deposit. Maybe some people prefer depositing like that, but I don't think they should have made it the only way to mint through the UI. It should just be an option.
