The true value in an art collection is going to be how it’s put together, how it’s curated, how it’s presented.

The biggest problem with onchain art is how to present artwork.  How do we bring the art that we’ve collected to life?  How do we organize and curate it from our disorganized wallets?

There are lots of digital art/NFT gallery options out there from things like Deca and WhiteWalls to 3D experiences like Spatial. 

What are you looking for specifically in features that existing galleries don’t already provide?

have you tried using them?  At scale?  With thousands of artworks?  There needs to be a way to organize a collection across multiple wallets and blockchains and distribute from that intermediary.

Not multiple thousands but I have used Deca and Spatial with more than 1000.

They support multiple wallets across several of the most popular chains.

Was it automated? No. Was it significant work to organize intentional collections? Yes. 

But that is part of curation, right? It’s not going to be quick and easy.

Curation of a nice looking gallery is an artistic act in itself and that takes effort.

I completely understand how daunting a task it is for large collections though. I spent weeks making custom Deca galleries, though they do have features that show NFT collections as pages for you. I wanted mine to be arranged in specific orders with specific backgrounds and framing image elements and all that took time.

Spatial galleries were even more work and kind of difficult for precise placement. I never put more than 200 images in one since it was so many keystrokes and having to nudge things in 3 axes and fidgety. 

I don’t think there CAN be something that automates it and makes it look like more than a grid of related images, though.

Effort is always going to be required for proper display of curation. Most apps that deal with large amounts of data don’t need to showcase every data point, so there is not a great solution out there for massive collections. 

I think you have to curate your curations pragmatically. 😔

It’s a complete disaster of a process.  It’s the biggest hindrance I see to our space moving forward.  I’d love to see some links of what you’ve created.  I’ve also done the same.  Spent days of my life organizing my collection, but we won’t scale until this is figured out.
