The capybara, or capybara (lat. Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris), is a semi-aquatic herbivorous mammal from the capybara subfamily (Hydrochoerinae), one of two (along with the small capybara) currently existing species of the capybara genus. The capybara is the largest among modern rodents.
