Been enjoying vibe coding a lot lately, as well as AI art generation, and I'm starting to wonder if using AI this much is actually having a NEGATIVE effect on my creativity..........

Possibly, maybe, how are you feeling about this leap in ai art tech period? It’s all advancing so fast. Soon, ai will be able to handle music gen and video gen, maybe music and video gen together at the same quality as static image gen is now. And then better.

In our cord we’ve been talking about how a bunch of us are using ai for coding more instead of art gen. We share a yearning for early art gen process, where the shit was funked up and you didn’t know wth was gonna come out the other end. Now it’s almost too perfect where it’s boring now tbh.

The AI art stuff is COOL but it doesn't remove the fact that a lot of people don't actually have taste or the underlying understanding of what makes things good...so we end up with a lot of the same stuff. I guess this is why they call it "slop" haha

maybe thats why there is a niche of people that love finding underground gems, and get so upset when they get big and go mainstream. I think a lot of those folks know that ppl are hopping on the bandwagon and don't know why. They miss out on the initial, what makes this actually cool, or what made it cool in the first place, before "fame"

huge facts, and you have touched on the topic of taste several times earlier. It's a huge factor. If you don't know what is cool, or even able to identify what is cool to yourself, without the trends, then how can you create in that fashion. It's a branch of critical thinking skills. which are being diminished drastically.
