Absolutely savagery occurred on those and no one batted an eye. The only other piece of equipment that came close was the giant solid metal slide that had been baking in the sun all day. Nothing like having your bare thighs squeak all the way down that mfer.

OMG you know what I remember about this thing? My summer camp repainted ours (in the early 80s) with what the hell knows awful paint probably leaded and I loved the smell and the weird paint bubbles that weren't quite dry so I like marinated in that paint for days ☠️

They removed the one at the local park nearby a few years ago and all the kids were lamenting the decision. It's been replaced by a plastic mini version that is essentially speed limited. Wack!
