How do FHE practitioners deal with the fact that whenever you mention "homomorphic" anything, stupid people on the internet act like it has something to do with homosexuality? Is there some other term that we're supposed to use? Use "FHE" without ever unrolling the acronym? Something else?

No other term to use. Just ignorance from the masses. Stupid folks may always be stupid, unless they choose to educate themselves.
