I’m quite confident that recent gene editing techniques (different from GMOs, so easier path to commercialization) I’ve seen will yield moderate improvements to field agriculture, but the real winner will be controlled environment agriculture because plants can be completely designed with less need for resilience

we’re talking about a methodology that already uses way less water and land, but has been struggling to compete with field agriculture because of high electricity and labor costs—but product differentiation potential is huge

re: suprematism and federal grants, I may post things later about these while I think a lot of people dread applying for grants, I think it’s actually quite fun! it’s like entrepreneur welfare lol
