they are both a plague though and are not called out nearly enough

At least with the former, there is the acknowledgement of what they're doing. They're like "let's not beat around the bush, we both know I'm here to grift u".

Whereas the latter is trying to be more lowkey and sneaky about it, trying to confuse u to grift something out of u.
