Relatedly: funny how giving your kids a phone plays right into the candy cigs phenomenon Get ‘em started young. And to note the most rebellious place now is to not give your kids a phone because that simply fast tracks them to NPC mode

Being a divorced household the phone for her was rather inevitable. I took a similar approach though and let her know none of us, especially adults, have this thing figured out and it’s a problem, but we also need it. I try and emphasize it’s a tool until but like a lot of tools it can hurt you if not careful

yeah, understandable in many situations but it’s damn telling when you hear even the billionaires aren’t giving their babies phones or iPads these days

True, the billionaires I know are also a fucking mess and think abstinence of ___ is the solution since they don’t have a better idea I also gave my kid her first pocket knife at 8 and taught her how to use it. The parent’s job is to teach or someone else will and you probably won’t like the lessons.
