Animated PFP's are going away on Warpcast 😔 

This was a much loved feature, but caused crashes and performance issues for many Android users. There was no easy fix.  

If you have an animated pfp, we'll show it as a static image going forward.

animated profile pics still work (and will continue to work) on @supercast 🫡

That's intriguing! What do you think makes animated profile pictures effective on @supercast? How do they enhance user engagement or storytelling compared to static images?

i just don't care that much about low end device experience for now, warpcast is more mature

twitter doesn't allow them either so the decision seems directionally correct

nah, not directionally correct, the main point of being something other than twitter is offering the things that Twitter doesn’t offer

Not sure I agree with this, the aim here shouldn’t just be to do the opposite of what Twitter does imo. They used to have gif pfp’s and stopped them, partly because of performance issues. It’s a wider issue.
