if it is produced precisely with the same materials as organic meat, why would it taste differently? in fact, it might even taste better, when there’s no guilt of killing an animal involved

happy for the folks that want to pursue that reality. I'm also happy to support farmers and ranchers who raise animals on pasture in a functional relationship with the environment, notably a very very minor part of most of the meat consumed in the United States at the moment. Their meat is delicious, nutritionally great, and all the better if you can play a role in supporting a rural economy.

I agree with your outlook and take here—if people are going to farm animals at all, it should be above all, ethically, sustainably and responsibly. But if we are to extract ourselves from the food chain entirely, and not make animals suffer cruel fates at our hands anymore.. lab grown is a great alternative.

yeah I spent a couple of years as a vegetarian in late college/post college - once I started farming and realized the value animals can bring to the landscape and environment, and then realized the relationship between farmers and their animals on small scale operations I was all in on eating and enjoying meat again. have never looked back. Might be interested in this study that Stephan van Vliet published a couple of years back in partnership with the Bionutrient Food Association going to take a long while before lab grown meat can compete with the best of the best beef herds, especially grass fed in the omega 3:6 ratios https://www.rootsofchange.org/wp-content/uploads/Nutrient-Density-Data-Report-Sample.pdf
