I feel like either side is talking past each other. yes, if one feels spiteful, stylometry & voice recognition have been available for many years. otoh, are we trapped in a crab tank with each other? at some point committing to the cynical bit, applauding lapses of journalistic ethic, it's just going out w/ a whimper.

I have no alignment with the journo or whatever they’re peddling but I also have no alignment for privacy for someone who made this into some big public event. I’d never heard much about the dude until this moment and a lot of that rests on his reaction to this moment.

so do we just give up privacy & potential dissent for everyone? no point in pursuing crypto or other E2EE tech if politicians/journalists are opposed? imho, it is telling that people are acting like they're insulated from what is generally considered a public liability, just b/c it's targeting a different tribe.
