If you're hiring a senior person - consider working with them for a day on some real task. Make time for them, give them context, let them ask questions, take them for lunch, and let them present solutions or approaches at the end of the day. It’s a long-term hire so it's not a good idea to depend just on CVs, zoom calls, and references. It's not ordinary office work. Also, don't be cheap - compensate them 🫵
