Part 2: Falling down. Literally

We got on the ice. We fell down. A lot.

How we moved from unconscious incompetence to conscious incompetence by trying out a new technique (a v-shape to skate better)

Part 3: Giving Up, Then Getting Motivated Again

The falling was a lot of frustration.

So we rented a plastic bear to help with balance. She gave up, and I pushed her around the ice. But then...getting motivated by other kids...a breakthrough!

Part 4: Unlocking the Motivation to Try Again

She realized that going to the wall in ice skating was the same thing she does in swim class: Practice.

In the end, we were back to unconscious incompetence - a delusion of grandeur that she could do it all on her own
