This morning I read a NYMag article about how public space has become earbud space in NYC So I conducted a simple random sample on my subway commute of 60 New Yorkers in transit. As if this hasn't been the case for decades. Apple earbuds with the cords used to be a quasi-status symbol when they came out. There were even goofy articles about gimmicks like hipsters plugging into each other's ipods to see what the other was listening to.
