In honor of World Labrador Day 

My first dog was a Labrador named Richard. Like Richard the Lionheart. 🦁 I named him that because of the way he looked at me when we first met. Calm, confident, noble - a true king ☺️

He taught me what it means to deeply love dogs. I hesitated for years before getting a dog, but Richard changed everything. He was brave, kind and very friendly. Although he is no longer with me, I cherish his memory with deep warmth and gratitude ❤️

Life wouldn't be complete without them. A pet may be the first member of your family, or you may already have a family and then add your pet.

But once you experience their company, you realize that the word "pet" feels too small. I'd say "friend" is more representative.

It's a friend who, unlike other friends, lives with you. But this friend, unlike other friends, will always be happy to see you, will always be there for you at all times, will always enjoy your company, will always be happy by your side.

Bert here with an important message!

I’ve organized a crowdfund to help cover surgery costs for my friend Lada, a sweet 11-year-old pup who recently developed a tumor and needs surgery.

You might know her human, @klusya, as a kind, creative, and essential part of our Farcaster community. Now they could use a little of that kindness back.

Lada’s surgery is necessary to keep her healthy and comfortable in the years ahead. But it comes with an unexpected cost, and that’s where we come in.

We’re raising $1,000 to help cover the surgery and follow-up care. And I’m asking our community to chip in however they can, whether that’s a donation, a recast, or just helping share her story (all make a big difference!).

I’ve given, because this is what community means to me.
