I see two streams developing in the digital art world - either on purpose or by chance 

1. Purely digital: artists developing a digital audience, focussing on digital experiences, events, mechanisms. Embracing innovative mechanics that could (and most of the time) fail. 

2. Hybrid IRL: artists trying to break into the trad art model, focussing on exhibitions, shows, events IRL. Partnering with institutions, museums, galleries that are close to the trad world. 

I don’t think there is a right or wrong path, but they seem to clash and not play well together.
