The first person that came to mind for me was David Foster Wallace

DFW has an essay on Roger Federer that is the best sports writing I've ever read. Dude just had a way with words & broke the 20th century consensus of Hemingway imo i.e. moved away from short + literal writing to longer, more chaotic postmodern writing

Interesting. I love great sports writing...probably an understatement. I think I have this essay saved somewhere and never read it....so this is my prompt to read it. Thanks for sharing this. I've not read much DFW.
