Doctors are held fiscally responsible for malpractice. Why isn’t the same true for police? If it was, they would need insurance which would mean the market would sniff out the bad apples. Taxpayers wouldn’t pay settlements for bad cops. Cops would be more respected. Everyone wins.

Many doctors are asking their patients to sign a waiver before they will administer certain procedures removing them from liability . But I get your overall point

Waivers don’t protect doctors against malpractice (as long as you can prove malpractice, of course) — which is what the parent is referring to
