@benna
a bit of a deep one here, but i encourage artists working and challenging 3D as a technique to read it! i recently exchanged this article with @davidlisser on 3D graphics, and what the domain could have looked like in an alternate history where we opted for capturing the messiness and blurriness of life, rather than attempting to mathematically reproduce its perfect likeness. 'What if our norms of computer graphics had emerged out of other needs and disciplines than aerospace, engineering, or the post-WWII environment? What if they had emerged from... disciplines defined by the messy work of capturing the world in all of its confusing detail? ... What if the world of our stories were the dominion of mushy organs, translucent clouds? What if it had been born out of aspirations to record a complex world, rather than the Promethean aspiration to create replacements, constituted by the mathematics of approximation?' https://www.thinkingwithmoss.net/entry/counterfactual-graphics
