I think the importance declines with more experience and a larger amount of companies in a portfolio. First seed round: bothers a lot. Nth seed round: wait, what was that one company called?

A company that I invested in seed (and has since completed a large A) sends zero emails to angels. Quite annoying.

Roughly 10% (around 3-4) of the founders of my 30+ angel investments send quarterly updates that are meaningful and thoughtful. Another 30-40% send less frequent updates, but are ok. The ones that drive me really crazy though are the ones that only send updates when they are about to try to raise a bridge.

If I decide to invest I have done some research. I assume if I am investing in a seed I am investing in multiple. Cram a bunch of emails in my inbox which I will assume are skewed to the senders advantage I would just delete them and do some more research on my own. Limited updates would be appreciated.

As an angel investor - not really it’s fun to be in the know but things change so much at pre seed/seed that it’s not material IMO. As a fund it’s more bothering.

I think metrics are... how big is your portfolio and what check you've put in. If it's an angel check <25k, I think it's not much rational worries, yet probably if it would be >250 make sense.
