The conveyor belt sushi, or kaitenzushi, was first introduced at the 1970 Osaka World Expo. It quickly became popular and was invented by Mawaru Genroku Sushi in Osaka, who also patented the concept. You can still visit their restaurant to experience the original conveyor belt sushi.

Great article! Very insightful and well-written🍣🍣🍣 It's a bit sad that most kaitenzushi restaurants no longer rotate after COVID-19.
