Thanks, v interesting read! I dispute "Chosen Ones" separating fantasy and sci-fi though 😅 E.g. Kingkiller Chronicle and Discworld books have a more natural law magic, and The Matrix is sci-fi. Would you consider humans the "chosen ones" of Earth in our universe because of our abilities compared to other species?

^ doesn't detract from the point you were making - just stirred up my inner fan! I enjoy fantasy, sci-fi and blurs of the two, and agree that 'Chosen One' type world-building or stories seem quite lazy and hard to buy into.
