We hadnā€™t even considered Automod as a category of Farcaster client. @jtgi didnā€™t wait for an FIP or public APIs. He just built something useful and people were willing to jump through some hoops to use it. Made us want to design channels around this new category of client.

Dan did you know that @jtgi recently announced that they are shutting down @automod because channels are changing? I think this characterizes what we stressing about https://warpcast.com/jtgi/0xcdf03887

Not sure the context but dan was great about keeping me in the loop with channel changes. We had a call early last week to review the rough proposal (which I like and support). Same for the last revision of channels, was apart of a channel working group etc.

interesting, most of us were shocked and felt threatened by this, like at any moment the client might change and render our work obsolete. i didnā€™t know you had been informed. thank you for clarifying this

ya, not for every little thing ofc, just the big changes that directly affected moderation cause takes time to develop, comms w/ customers etc. having been on both sides itā€™s hard to strike a balance between change and stability, for farcasters current size and where it wants to go, action bias is critical imo. my personal eval is merkle is doing great; making tough and bold decisionsā€“most donā€™t, limp along and then die. Ive also built on platforms where you canā€™t even contact anyone official, formal channels only (zendesk lol), or approved big partners only. i see dan and team in the weeds daily on the timeline. but yeah, itā€™s early and change is apart of the game, sometimes you get hit and good faith feedback helps modulate policy.
